The game of Craps is built around the roll of 7 which is the number with the most possible combinations in a two dice roll. 2 and 12 are the hardest because both of those numbers only have 1 possible combination each. 3 and 11 each have 2 possible combinations, 4 and 10 each have 3 possible combinations, 5 and 9 each have 4 possible combinations, 6 and 8 each have 5 possible combinations, and 7 has 6 possible combinations in a two dice roll.
Craps Systems
There are no really good published craps systems. There is the Martingale System which is used in many kinds of table games where there are even money bets. The concept is that every time that you lose you double your bet the next time. In theory this system will guarantee that you will win. The problems arise when you run in to a longer losing streak because those bets doubling every roll of the dice add up pretty quickly to a point that they can exceed the table limits or they can exceed your bankroll. Either way you end up risking a lot of money to win the amount of your original bet.
There are a number of systems that are based upon what is called the “Gambler’s Fallacy”. This fallacy that these systems are based upon is that if a number is not rolled for a period of time it is considered more likely to come out in future rolls. Mathematically every roll of the dice stands on its own as far as odds are concerned and the previous history of what has been rolled has no affect on the odds of the next roll of the dice.
Some Basic Tips That Should Help You at Craps
Here are a few basic and general tips for you to help you succeed at craps:
- Bankroll Management – the money that you play with should be money that is set aside for the sole purpose of gambling. When you play out of your personal finances you cloud your gambling judgment by playing with money that you can not afford to lose.
- Emotions – don’t gamble when you are upset. If you just had a fight with your significant other it is not a good time to gamble. Go to the gym or have a beer but do not gamble. Heightened emotions and gambling are a recipe for disaster, plain and simple.
- Set Limits – Set limits for how much you will lose in one sitting and at what stakes that you will play based upon the size of your bankroll. If you are winning then set a “water mark” or an amount that you will quit the session if you drop down to that amount. That way you will protect a winning session but will allow it to blossom if possible.
